Thomas R. Givler, affectionately known as "Tommy," passed away quietly at home in Paola, Kansas on October 20, 2025, surrounded by his family and his beloved dog, Bear. He was born on March 12, 1943, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where he would later graduate from Manheim Township High School.
After enlisting in the Army in 1966, he served as a tank commander in the Vietnam War. After his military service, Tommy's journey took him through a distinguished career as an HVAC Technician in the Copper Mines of Arizona. Returning to Pennsylvania in the 1980's, he continued his HVAC career compiling over thirty years in the HVAC industry. In 2008, he made the heartfelt decision to move to Paola, Kansas, to connect with newly found family members.
Tommy was known for his generosity and unwavering stubbornness. His passions included being a motorcycle enthusiast, hot rods, hunting, silhouette shooting, and enjoying the thrill of watching football, first supporting the Raiders and later the Chiefs upon his move to Kansas.
He is survived by his devoted family, including his sisters, Kathy Doherty and Kathy Givler, brother, Jody Givler, step-brother, Ray Johnson, nephew, Doug (Sheila) Doherty, daughter, Thomasa Eager, and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Tina Givler, sister, Sandy Givler, brother, Douglas Givler, and brother-in-law, Bob Doherty.
Inurnment services for Thomas R. Givler will be held on October 25, 2025, at Paola Cemetery, located at 909 W Miami St., Paola, Kansas 66071, beginning at 10:00 AM and concluding at 11:00 AM.
Tommy's spirit will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
