Suzan E. McIntire

Suzan E. McIntire (née Price), 78, of Paola, Kansas, passed away on August 5, 2026.

Suzan was born on May 7, 1948, and grew up in Shawnee, Kansas. She married the love of her life, David H. McIntire, in 1969. Together they built a life in Paola, Kansas, where they made their home for many years and created countless memories with family and friends.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, David H. McIntire; her daughter, Melissa J. Droegemeier and husband Jeff of Hays,KS; her son, James B. McIntire of Paola, KS; and her beloved grandchildren, Brett Droegemeier and wife Cassandra of Chanute, KS, and Lacy Droegemeier of Hays, KS. She also leaves behind many extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were touched by her kindness and generosity.

Suzan had a gift for making people feel welcome. Whether through a home-cooked meal, a thoughtfully handmade quilt, or a handwritten card sent simply to let someone know they were being thought of, she found countless ways to show her love and care for others. She was an exceptional cook who delighted in preparing meals for family and friends, and she treasured the time spent gathered around the table.

She enjoyed crafting, quilting, gardening, and creating beautiful things with her hands. As a member of the Quilters Guild, P.E.O., and her church women’s groups, she built lasting friendships while sharing her talents and serving her community with a generous heart.

Above all, Suzan was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and loyal friend. Her gentle spirit, compassion, creativity, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family finds comfort in knowing that every quilt she stitched, every meal she lovingly prepared, every flower she nurtured, and every card she thoughtfully sent carried a piece of her heart. Those gifts remain as lasting reminders of a life lived with kindness, generosity, and love.

Celebration of life will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Cafe Latté @ The Jackson, 139 W Peoria Street, Paola, KS 66071.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Miami County Cancer Foundation or the Miami County Quilters Guild.
