Sue Wilson, a beloved figure in the Paola community, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 27, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on September 20, 1939, in Paola, Kansas, Sue spent her life bringing joy and kindness to all who knew her.
A dedicated professional, Sue served as an administrative assistant at Team Bank for approximately 30 years, a role she embraced with diligence and warmth until the institution became known as Great Southern Bank. Her commitment to her job mirrored her approach to life—always striving to support those around her while maintaining a cheerful disposition that brightened the days of her colleagues and clients alike.
Sue was a proud graduate of Paola High School and attended Purdue College for a period, always valuing education and personal growth. Beyond her professional pursuits, she had a love for sports and enjoyed collecting various types of wine. Cooking for her family and hosting holiday events were among her cherished activities, which she approached with great enthusiasm and creativity. In her youth, she found joy in golfing, a passion that remained close to her heart.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Lake Vasquez, James Vasquez, and Dustin Wilson, along with two great-grandchildren, who brought immense happiness into her life. Sue's sister, Linda Dohrman, also survives her, providing a lasting connection to shared family memories.
Preceding her in death were her devoted husband, Jack Wilson; her sons, Scott Wilson and Kirk Wilson; her daughter, Wendy Wilson-Staats; her parents, J.B. and Helen Walters; and her brother, Robert Walters. The absence of these loved ones leaves a profound void for all who cared for Sue.
A memorial service will be held on January 13, 2026, at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Paola, Kansas, commencing at 2:00 PM. This will be followed by an inurnment at Miami Memorial Gardens.
Sue Wilson leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and joy that will continue to resonate within the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
