Stephen W. Miner, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and distinguished Army veteran, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission in Merriam, Kansas. Born on November 19, 1947, in Joplin, Missouri, Stephen was the proud son of Ruben and Wanda (Waltman) Miner.
Stephen’s remarkable life journey was marked by dedication, adventure, and unwavering commitment. He served his country with honor as an Army veteran for twenty-four years, achieving the rank of E8 First Class Sergeant. His military career took him across the globe, calling Germany, Maryland, Washington State, Korea, Turkey, Greece, and Kansas home at various times, reflecting his adaptable and resilient spirit.
Stephen’s personal life was equally rich and cherished. He was married to Patricia McCool for sixty loving years, a bond that began on a blind date and blossomed into a lifelong partnership filled with mutual support and devotion. Together they built a family grounded in love and strong values.
He is survived by his devoted wife Patricia; son Stevie Miner; daughter Paula Jackson: son Shawn Miner; ten grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and joy. Stephen was deeply loved and will be remembered fondly by all whose lives he touched.
Beyond his professional and family life, Stephen had a passion for the Kansas City Chiefs, enthusiasm for watching sports, and a love for music. He delighted in creating silly videos, bringing laughter and light to those around him with his playful creativity.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents along with twelve brothers and sisters.
Cremation is planned with services to be scheduled at a later date.
The memory of Stephen will endure in the hearts of his family and friends, celebrated for a life well-lived in service, love, and joy. His legacy stands as a testament to a man who embraced every chapter of his life with courage, warmth, and a spirited sense of humor.
