Stephen Lee Barnett (1983 – 2025)

Stephen Lee Barnett, 42, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on October 31, 2025. Steve was born on April 30, 1983, in Johnson County, Kansas. He graduated from Paola High School in 2001. Steve strongly believed in helping others. He became an organ donor and donated his corneas, skin tissue, and bone marrow to others in need.

As a generator technician assistant, Steve was a hard and dependable worker for the D & T Generator Repair Service for many years. Steve loved all kinds of music and played three guitars. He had a passion for drawing, fishing, wrestling, and the Red Wings Hockey Team. Steve also loved his pets and was a good pet parent.

Steve will be greatly missed by his parents, Dave and Tara Barnett, his lifelong friend Kyle Egelhoff, and his friend, Jon Campbell, who was always there for him. Karen and Don Morasch, who he lived with, also mourn his passing, along with many friends. Steve leaves behind his brother, Aaron Barnett, his niece, nephews, and his cousin Jennifer Barnett Gieschen. Steve is preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Nellie (Cooke) Barnett, his uncle, the Rev. Dale Barnett, and his cousin, Maureen Barnett Moore. 

A Farewell will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 305 North Pearl Street, Paola, Kansas.
