Shirley Jean Mays, 87, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Homestead Assisted Living in Overland Park, Kansas.
Shirley was born on October 6, 1938, in Hillsdale, Kansas. She was the daughter of Floyd and Bernadine (Mayes) Gugh. Shirley was raised in Hillsdale and attended area schools.
Shirley was united in marriage to Marvin Leroy Mays on June 28, 1959, in Hillsdale, Kansas. She worked as an administrator for the Kansas Gas Service for many years, before retiring. Shirley and Marvin lived in the area throughout their married life. Marvin preceded her in death on August 16, 2023.
She is survived by her loving neighbors and friends.
Graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Hillsdale Cemetery.
