Sharon (Richmond) Morrisey

Sharon (Richmond) Morrisey, a devoted wife, mother, and esteemed community member, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, in Louisburg, Kansas. Born Sharon Richmond on October 25, 1944, in Culver City, California, she led a life marked by dedication, creativity, and a profound commitment to her family and community.

Sharon grew up in Louisburg, Kansas, where she attended school and graduated from Louisburg High School with the class of 1962. Her pursuit of higher education took her to The University of Kansas and subsequently to The University of Denver, where she completed her academic journey with distinction.

In August 1964, Sharon married John "Tom" Morrisey at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Louisburg. Together, they moved to Altadena, California, in 1966, where they raised their three children: Stacy, Casey, and Browder. Sharon taught at Mayfield Jr. School, before starting her career in real estate in 1975. In 1989, Sharon and Tom co-founded Morrisey and Company Real Estate in Altadena, a testament to their shared vision and entrepreneurial spirit.

Sharon was a treasured member of the Altadena Guild since 1977 and an active participant in numerous organizations, including the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), PEO International Women's group, and Sisters on the Fly. Her spiritual devotion was reflected in her commitment to adoration at Queen of Holy Rosary - Wea and was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Her passions reflected her zest for life; she enjoyed gardening, engaging in art projects, and embarking upon yearly trips to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Sharon had a unique gift for discovering beauty in objects and spaces, cultivating collections of beaded vintage purses and vintage lamps, and finding joy in hiking the scenic mountains of Altadena. Sharon had a deep love for animals, including the family's infamous parrot, Toniko.

Sharon is lovingly remembered by her daughter Stacy Morrisey; her sons Casey Morrisey and his wife Vivi; and Browder Morrisey and his wife Antoinette. She found immense joy in her nine grandchildren: Rylan, Makenna, Nick, Champ, Mariposa, JB, Grace, Tank, and Cora, whose lives she enriched with her unwavering love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Browder Alexander Richmond, Jr. and Faye (Freeman) Richmond, and by her beloved husband, John "Tommy" Morrisey.

Sharon's life was a testament to strength, grace, and devotion. Her legacy endures in the hearts of her family, friends, and the community she so faithfully served. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 606 S Elm Street, Louisburg, Kansas 66053. A reception will follow after mass. Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, July 27, 2026, at the Maple Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas. 

A celebration of life for Tom and Sharon will be held on August 22, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Parish, Altadena, California.
