Sharon Kay Mayfield, born on April 10, 1946, in Chanute, Kansas, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, at The University of Kansas Health System Olathe Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas. She was the beloved daughter of LeRoy and Doris Harp.
Throughout her life, Sharon was known for her remarkable talent in embroidery, turning her craft into a cherished career. Her creative spirit never overshadowed her dedication to her family, which remained her greatest joy. She treasured the moments spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, which brought immense happiness to her life.
Sharon had a passion for enjoying life with her family. She embraced spending time out and about with her daughter, Joey, as they explored their town together. She often delighted in sharing laughs and jokes, bringing warmth and cheer to those around her. One of her most cherished pastimes included hanging out with her “sidekick,” Linda, forming part of a joyful group affectionately known as the "Coffee Girls" at the Sunflower Plaza.
She was especially fond of animals, and her love for dogs was evident, particularly for her Pekingese, Eva, who she spoiled immensely.
Sharon is survived by her devoted daughters, Joey Roatch and Mary Sproule, both of Ottawa, Kansas, along with her son, Richard DeLaTorre. Sharon also leaves behind six adoring grandchildren: Elizabeth, Elisha, Jamin, Jonah, River, and Reyce, as well as two great-grandchildren, Ava and Jace.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Sharon will be lovingly remembered for her compassion, humor, and boundless love for her family. Her legacy will continue to live on through those who were blessed to know her.
Cremation is planned with services to be held at a later date.
