Russell R. Hayes, Sr.

Russell Ray Hayes Sr., of Paola, Kansas, passed away at The University of Kansas Medical Center on February 16, 2026, at the age of 65.

He is lovingly remembered by his two sons, Rich Hayes and Russell Hayes Jr., brother, Randy Hayes, and sister, Rita Chowins. As well as his 4 grandchildren, cousins, and many nieces and nephews.

Russell was born in Nampa, Idaho, on April 10, 1960, to Raymond and Doris Hayes.

Rusty worked as a concrete finisher for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. Rusty had a heart of gold. He was an exceptionally kind and compassionate person who always helped others. He wanted everyone around him to know they were loved and deeply cared for.

The funeral services will be held at the Hillsdale Presbyterian Church on February 21, 2026, beginning at 2:00pm with burial to follow at the Hillsdale Cemetery.

A reception is to follow the services at Marysville Township Hall in Hillsdale.
