Ruby L. Chrisman, a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away on May 9, 2026, at Louisburg Healthcare and Rehab. Born Ruby L. Nelson on February 21, 1941, in Mulberry, Kansas, she was the youngest of fourteen children born to Winfield and Millie Escue Nelson.
Throughout her life, Ruby dedicated herself to caring for others. She worked as a nurse's aide at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Miami County Hospital, and Country Haven Nursing Home. Demonstrating her unwavering commitment to family, she later spent seventeen years working with her son and daughter-in-law’s business before retiring.
Ruby found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was passionate about gardening, enjoyed raising chickens, cared deeply for her pets, and delighted in bird watching, activities that reflected her gentle nature and love of the outdoors.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and all thirteen of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her two beloved children: Cynthia D. Harris and her husband Larry, Ricky Lee Chrisman and his wife Ann, along with seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren who carry forward her loving legacy.
A Mass to honor Ruby’s life will be held on May 14, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church located at 501 E. Chippewa St, Paola, Kansas 66071.
Ruby L. Chrisman’s life was a testament to compassion, dedication, and family devotion. She will be remembered with great respect and affection by all who knew her.
