Robert Eugene Hopkins, born on February 17, 1945, in Ottawa, Kansas, departed this life peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on July 22, 2025.
A devoted family man, Robert married Patricia Ann Hopkins on December 21, 1963. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, raising three children: David Hopkins (Carole); Robert Hopkins; and Katina "Tina" Reynolds (Scott). Robert cherished the moments spent with his family, which also includes six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Robert dedicated much of his professional life to the Franklin County Road and Bridge Department, where he worked diligently until his retirement. His commitment to service was evident in all aspects of his life. He had a passion for riding his Harley, which brought him great joy. Additionally, Robert generously donated to children’s toy drives, reflecting his kind-hearted spirit and dedication to making a positive impact within his community.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lucille (Toumberlin) Hopkins.
In his leisure time, Robert enjoyed watching old westerns, finding comfort in the classic tales that resonated with him. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on August 2, 2025, from 1 PM to 4 PM at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #2700, located at 524 East 15th Street, Ottawa, KS 66067. Food will be provided for all who attend as we gather to remember and celebrate the life of Robert.
