Robert Nathan Glover, a long-time resident of Paola, joined his wife Carol, in the afterlife on December 3, 2025.
Robert, known to friends as ‘Bob’, was born in Kansas City, MO, June 11th, 1942 to Jim and Ruth Glover. He graduated from Washington High School and as one of his first jobs managed his mother Ruth at the local grocery store. When asked how that worked, he said “I just left her to do her job and was never disappointed.” He shortly thereafter joined the National Guard in 1963. While out with friends, one of his service buddies offered to set him up on a blind date with a friend of a girl he was seeing. Little did he know that blind date, that occurred on Friday the 13th, would change his life. His date was Carol Ann Cross, who he would fall in love with and marry on November 6th, 1964. They moved to Paola in 1971 and started a family, having two children, his son Bob Jr. and daughter Kara Beth. Bob and Carol shared 54 years together, having many adventures together traveling all over the United States, Canada and even venturing to the Panama Canal in their later years when they finally had time to themselves since the kids were no longer requiring taxi services to sports, horse shows or theatre events.
After the National Guard, he worked at Union Pacific Railroad, AT&T, Ottawa University and finally Baker University.
Bob loved bird watching, working outside and caring for the family horses. Above all, he was a family man and could be counted on to be present at every sporting event, 4-H event, horse show and theatre production. He loved his wife, supported his children and believed in a simple life of hard work.
Bob is survived by Bob Jr., Kara Beth, her husband Chris and his sister Cathy Meek and her husband Terry.
