Robert E. Coon

Robert E. Coon, 79, of Osage City, Kansas, formerly of Ottawa, passed away Friday, September 5, 2014, at Osage Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 12, 2014, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa, Kansas. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. Robert was born Tuesday, February 5, 1935, in Williamsburg, Kansas, the son of Hough and Florence (McMillian) Coon. He was a near lifelong resident of Ottawa moving from Williamsburg when he was 6 years old. In 2007, Robert moved to Osage City. Survivors include two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Alice Whitmer and Ethel Hull. He worked for Willis Nursery, Ottawa for many years, retiring as a nurseryman. Robert enjoyed visiting with his friends about different species of trees; he also liked to walk to the Dollar Store and purchase blue jeans, shirts and soda pop.
