Rick Cain, a beloved husband, step-father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away at his home in Cleveland, Missouri, on January 8, 2026, at the age of 65.
He was born on September 20, 1960, in Kansas City, Kansas, and grew up in the area, graduating from Turner High School with the class of 1978. Rick later moved to Louisburg, Kansas, where he spent many years of his life. In 2018, he moved to Cleveland, Missouri, until his passing.
Rick dedicated a significant part of his career to Gill Studios, working as a color technician from 1984 until his retirement in 2004. His work ethic and commitment to his craft earned him respect and admiration among colleagues and peers alike.
A member of the American Legion Post 250 in Louisburg, Rick also served as the union steward for many years with the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT). His dedication to his community and fellow workers was evident through his commitment to service.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Rick had a vibrant personality. He was known for his generosity and kind-hearted nature, always willing to lend a helping hand. Those who knew him well would describe him as someone who did not know a stranger and who cherished the friendships he built throughout his life.
Rick enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife, Julie. Together, they found joy in visiting places such as Branson, New Orleans, and Las Vegas, where they made countless memories exploring local spots and enjoying live shows. His passion for fast-pitch softball further showcased his love for teamwork and camaraderie, playing as a pitcher while his father coached the team.
A true car enthusiast, Rick had a special fondness for antique American muscle cars. He shared his life with three beloved dogs and delighted in spending quality time with his family, engaging in activities such as bowling in league competitions with Julie.
Rick’s family remembers him fondly and will cherish his memory. He is survived by his devoted wife, Julie Cain; his step-son, Tyler (Jill) Anderson; step-daughter, Ashley Anderson; and granddaughter, Stella Anderson. He is also survived by his siblings, Bonnie (Tony) Hurtado, Elgie (Vicki) Martin, Ernie Cain, Dale (Debbie) Cain, and Vicki (Chris) Ward, along with several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Elvie Cain.
Memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm, Friday, January 23, 2026, at Dengel & Son Mortuary - Louisburg Chapel, 1 Aquatic Drive, Louisburg, Kansas 66053. A celebration of life will be held following the service at Freddy T’s Bar and Grill, 7920 W 151st Street, Overland Park, Kansas 66223.
