Richard Lee Funk, age 60, of Freeman, Missouri passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Menorah Medical Center, in Overland Park, Kansas.
Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2022. Visitation for friends and family will follow from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dengel & Son Mortuary – Louisburg Chapel, 1 Aquatic Drive, Louisburg, Kansas 66053. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 606 S Elm Street, Louisburg, Kansas 66053. Burial to follow at Freeman Cemetery.
Richard was born in Kansas City, Missouri on Thursday, September 7, 1961, the son of Melvin and Mildred (Collins) Funk. He attended Ruskin High School in Kansas City, Missouri, and was a member of the class of 1980.
He was united in marriage to Patricia “Trish” Hanks on Saturday, June 3, 1989, in Olathe, Kansas. Together they had two children, George and Hilary.
Richard loved his wife, kids, and family. He enjoyed being in the great outdoors and was an avid deer hunter. He was a great friend to many, and never knew a stranger.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Louisburg and was a fourth degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Funk.
Survivors include his wife Trish of the home, son George (Jocelyn) Funk of Harrisonville, Missouri, daughter Hilary Funk of Freeman, Missouri, Father Melvin Funk of Everton, Missouri, one sister Dottie (Steven) Gentry of Grandview, Missouri, sister in-law Lynne (Mark) Koestner of St. Louis, Missouri, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made payable to the Knights of Columbus Council #12437. Memorials may be sent c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary P.O. Box 669 Louisburg, Kansas 66053.
