Rex Loyd Crane, a dedicated husband, father, and cherished member of his community, passed away on June 26, 2025, at his residence after bravely battling cancer. He was born on May 2, 1949, in Ottawa, Kansas, and spent his life leaving a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him.

Rex graduated from Ottawa High School in 1967, laying the groundwork for a life marked by hard work and adventure. He pursued a successful career in construction, working as an Explosives Expert and Heavy Equipment Operator. His expertise in these areas was not only a testament to his skill but also his commitment to excellence in all that he did.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Rex served honorably in the National Guard in the 1960s. This period in his life demonstrated his dedication to serving his country and exemplified the values of duty and patriotism that he carried throughout his life.

On June 15, 1973, Rex united in marriage with his beloved wife, Kathy Smith. Together, they built a life filled with love and partnership, creating a family that he cherished deeply. Each of these family members held a special place in Rex's heart, and he found immense joy in the time spent with them.

Rex had a variety of hobbies and interests that enriched his life. He enjoyed spending his free time with his firearms and motorcycle, which provided him not only with recreation but also a means of connecting with friends and family. Whether on the open road or learning about new equipment, Rex approached his interests with the same enthusiasm and spirit that defined his essence.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rex D. Crane, whose memory he honored in his life.

Cremation is planned with no services scheduled at this time.
