Randy D. Fine, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Olathe, Kansas, on August 2, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on November 2, 1945, in Nevada, Missouri, Randy’s life was marked by generosity, humor, and a deep commitment to his family and community.

Raised in Nevada, Missouri, Randy graduated from Nevada High School with the class of 1963, embarking on the journey that would shape his character and purpose. He continued his education at Missouri Central State in Warrensburg, Missouri, where he was an active member of the Phi Sigma Fraternity.

Randy answered the call to serve his country by joining the Army National Guard, where he proudly served for six years. His dedication to service was reflected not only in his military involvement but also throughout his life in his devotion to others.

Randy began his career working for the Post Office in Nevada, Missouri. Later, he transferred to Shawnee Mission, Kansas, which would prove to be a pivotal step in his life, for it was there that he met his future wife, Mary Prue. On March 29, 1975, they were united in marriage—a partnership built on love, mutual respect, and unwavering support.

Randy’s career with the post office spanned 32 years, culminating as postmaster in Independence, Missouri, before he retired in 2001.

Randy’s faith was important to him. He was a member of Ascension Catholic Church in Overland Park and previously of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe, finding guidance and community in his spiritual life.

A man of many interests, Randy found great happiness outdoors. He loved fishing and, in his younger years, enjoyed annual hunting trips with his father. Family trips to the beaches in Florida and to North Carolina offered cherished experiences, as did camping and traveling together.

Friends and family fondly remember Randy’s wit, warmth, and exceptional ability to connect with others. He never met a stranger and always took the time to listen, making everyone he spoke with feel valued and heard. His sense of humor and quick wit brought light and laughter wherever he went.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Fine; his daughter, Kelle (Trent) Oestreich; and his grandsons, Luke, Colin, Levi, and Finn Oestreich, who lovingly knew him as “Grandad.” He also leaves behind his dear sister, Karen (Robert) Laflen.

Randy was preceded in death by his adored parents, Harry "Hoot" and Frankie Fine; his cherished son, Eric Fine; and his brother, Samuel Fine.

Randy's legacy is one of kindness, devotion, and unwavering love for family and friends. He will be deeply missed, yet the many lives he touched and the memories he created will remain cherished forever.
