Patricia Hopkins, a cherished member of the Ottawa community, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, in her hometown of Ottawa, Kansas. Born on July 18, 1945, Patricia lived a full life steeped in family devotion, hardworking spirit, and heartfelt passions.
Daughter of Wilmer and Anita Whirlow, Patricia was raised in Ottawa, where she completed her education at Ottawa High School. She embarked on a lifelong partnership of love and commitment when she married Robert Hopkins on December 21, 1963. Together, they celebrated sixty years of marriage, a testament to their enduring bond and shared journey.
Patricia’s professional life was marked by dedication and skill. She worked at Garmin as a line worker, where her expertise in soldering contributed greatly to the company’s success. Her meticulous nature and unwavering work ethic left a lasting impression on her colleagues.
Outside of work, Patricia found joy in simple pleasures and personal interests. She was an avid reader, with a particular fondness for romance novels that sparked her imagination and provided comfort. Her collections of Barbies and Beanie Babies reflected her warm and nurturing spirit, treasures that brought her much happiness. She was also known for her love of Pepsi, a small but consistent delight in her everyday life.
Patricia’s legacy is profoundly carried forward by her surviving family. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, David Hopkins and his wife Carole, and Robert Hopkins; her daughter, Katina “Tina” Reynolds and her husband Scott; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. These beloved family members carry with them the memory of her kindness, strength, and unwavering love.
Her husband Robert and her parents, Wilmer and Anita Whirlow, preceded her in death and are remembered with affection and respect.
Cremation is planned with a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
Patricia’s life was a tapestry of commitment—to family, to work, and to the little joys that enriched her days. Her presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind an enduring example of love, perseverance, and grace that will continue to inspire her family and friends for generations to come.
