Pamela Sue Hill

Pamela Sue Hill, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, in Paola, Kansas. Born on January 20, 1949, in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Pamela’s life was a tapestry of warmth, devotion, and accomplishment, stitched together by her unwavering love for family and her deep sense of community.

Pamela’s early years were shaped by the unique experiences of being a military child. Her family moved throughout Georgia and California during her childhood, ultimately settling in the Overland Park area of Kansas. She graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School in 1967, a milestone that marked the beginning of her lifelong journey filled with dedication and resilience.

Shortly after graduating, Pamela married her cherished husband, Edward Hill, on June 5, 1967. Together, they built a loving home and raised a family, first in Lenexa and Gardner before settling in Paola in 1977. Their marriage was a testament to enduring partnership, mutual respect, and the comforts of shared companionship.

Professionally, Pamela found fulfillment in her work as a computer programmer at Children's Mercy and Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Her precise mind and determination contributed meaningfully to her colleagues and the organizations she served.

While Pamela’s career was notable, her heart always belonged to her family. She drew immense joy from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her sons, Johnnie (Brenda) Hill and Anthony (Sarah) Hill, and her brother, Patrick DiPaola, continue to honor her memory. The special bonds she cultivated with her granddaughters—Stephanie Laack, Natalie Talley, and Kaylee Bronson—brought her immeasurable happiness, as they became the daughters she never had. She also leaves behind her grandson, Jeffrey Hill, her great-grandchildren—Henry Laack, Haislee Talley, Kydus Bronson, Livian Talley, and Kymora Bronson—and a wide extended family. Her love for each member of her family was steadfast and unconditional.

Pamela’s talents and passions extended beyond her family circle into her community. She was an accomplished quilter and seamstress, actively participating in the Miami County Quilters Guild for nearly three decades. Throughout her years with the Guild, Pam held various positions and contributed enthusiastically to its activities, traveling across the country to attend quilting events and to deepen her skills. These pursuits not only brought her personal joy, but also fostered lasting friendships and meaningful connections.

Pamela’s gentle spirit, tireless dedication, and compassionate nature leave behind a rich legacy. Those who were fortunate to know her will remember her as the heart and soul of her family, and as a respected member of her community. She is now reunited with her parents, Paul and Helen DiPaola, her sister Paula DiPaola, and her brother Philip DiPaola, who preceded her in death.

Her family and all who loved her take comfort in the memories they built together and the example she set through a life well-lived. Pamela’s love, wisdom, and grace will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
