Nancy Kay Bodard, born on June 3, 1950, in Cleveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, in Paola, Kansas. She was a beloved figure in her community and a cherished family member.

Nancy demonstrated exceptional entrepreneurial spirit as the owner of Silver Street Antiques, a venture she skillfully managed for eight years. Her passion for antiques was more than a business; it was a reflection of her deep appreciation for history and craftsmanship.

Her educational journey included time at Stephens College and Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri, where she cultivated her intellectual pursuits and laid the groundwork for her future endeavors.

Beyond her professional achievements, Nancy found joy in various hobbies that enriched her life. She had a particular love for antique hunting, which complemented her business, and invested countless hours in reading mystery books, often sharing her insights with her book club. Traveling also brought her immense happiness, allowing her to explore new cultures and experiences.

Nancy is survived by her loving spouse, Kevin Whitener; her son, Drew Gillespie, and his wife, Nicci; her brother, David Lamiell; and her cherished grandson, Gavin Gillespie. Nancy’s legacy will continue to live on through her family, who will remember her as a remarkable woman with a zest for life and a keen eye for beauty.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Alice Lamiell, who undoubtedly instilled in her many of the qualities that characterized her life. Nancy Kay Bodard will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

A visitation will be held at a later date in March.
