Myron Bernard Wolken, age 73, of Beloit Kansas, died suddenly on October 2nd 2026, in a tragic car accident.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Myron found his greatest happiness in the people he loved. His children were a constant source of pride, and his grandchildren held an especially treasured place in his heart. He made it a priority to visit them regularly, sharing in the ordinary moments that became the family’s most cherished memories. Whether offering encouragement, telling a story, lending a hand, or simply spending time together, he gave his family the gift of his steady presence. His love was not only spoken but shown through the time, attention, and care he gave so freely.
Myron finished high school in Greeley, Kansas, and went on to study chemistry and biology at Kansas State University where he graduated with a BA in biology. During that time, he also met the love of his life, Rebecca (Bec) Hanson. His education nurtured a lifelong curiosity about the natural world and a respect for careful thought, observation, and discovery.
Myron spent most of his professional life in banking. Throughout his career, he was known for his dependability, sound judgment, and commitment to treating others with honesty and respect. He valued the relationships he formed through his work and believed that trust was earned through integrity, fairness, and keeping one’s word. His career reflected the same qualities that guided his personal life: responsibility, patience, and a willingness to help others.
In retirement, Myron returned wholeheartedly to one of his greatest passions: farming. He appreciated the honest work of caring for the land and found meaning in the changing seasons, the satisfaction of a productive day, and the simple beauty of being outdoors. Farming was more than a pastime for him. It gave him purpose, peace, and a lasting connection to the land. He was happiest outside, where he could work with his hands, enjoy the open air, and take in the quiet blessings of the natural world.
His Catholic faith was the foundation of his life. Myron believed deeply in God’s grace, the importance of prayer, and the promise of eternal life. At the same time, he was a strong believer in science and in its power to deepen understanding of the natural world. He saw faith and scientific inquiry not as opposing forces, but as complementary ways of appreciating creation. He valued thoughtful, searching conversations with like-minded people and enjoyed exploring questions of faith, science, nature, and life. His faith guided the way he approached both joyful and difficult seasons, giving him strength, humility, and hope. He sought to live his beliefs through kindness, service, forgiveness, and devotion to his family. Those who loved him take comfort in knowing that he has been welcomed into the presence of the Lord.
Myron also enjoyed having a good time with friends and family. He appreciated laughter, fellowship, and a well-told story. Though he maintained what he liked to call a “healthy skepticism of having too much fun.” That blend of warmth, humor, and good sense was part of what made time with him so memorable.
Myron was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Marie and Bernard Wolken; his mother and father-in-law, Jean and Derald Hanson; his sister, Connie Eddings; his brother, Gary Wolken; his brother-in-law, Francis Begnoche; his brother-in-law, Gary Spencer; his nephew, Craig Spencer and his grandson, Matthew Wellbrock.
He is survived by his wife, Becky Wolken; children, Laura Frasier, Jeanna Wellbrock (Curtis), Philip Wolken (Lindsay), and Jeffery Wolken (Amanda); grandchildren, Kaden (Kinsley), Kannon, and Kennedy, Christian, Levi, Lucas, Anne, Elizabeth, Thomas; great-grandchild, Bowen Frasier; siblings, Joseph Wolken and his wife, Claudette, and Collette Spencer; sister-in-law, Christy Wolken; sister-in-law Sheila Begnoche, brother and sister-in law, Larry and Carol Hanson; brother and sister-in law Bill and Felicia Ross; brother-in-law Mark Hanson; and brother and sister-in law Kallen and Julie Hanson, as well as numerous other extended family members, neighbors, colleagues, and friends.
