Michael L. Pratt

Michael L. Pratt, 42, of Ottawa, Ks. was born July 1, 1984. He died in Olathe Hospice House, Olathe, Ks. on September 24, 2026. Michael had a lifelong battle with chronic illness. He was recovering from his third kidney transplant when he went into a diabetic coma, August 1st. Michael fought hard but could not recover from, and sustain a quality of life he would want.

Michael was born in Lawrence, Ks. in 1984 to Michael A. and Elizabeth S. Pratt.

Michael was a fighter from birth, surviving many life-saving surgeries the first week of his life, which his mother never left his side. He had a lengthy stay at Children’s Mercy Hospital until he was finally able to come home and meet his family. Michael was a renaissance man, like his father. He would have joined the military if not for his disabilities; however, he remained a true patriot.

Michael attended Ottawa High School from 1999 to 2003. Extremely intelligent and despite his multiple, lengthy stays in the hospital, Michael graduated with his class May of 2003.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth S. Pratt, and is survived by his father Michael A. Pratt of Ottawa, Ks. His sister Tracy(Doug) Clement of Rantoul, sister Mandy(Terrie Steeter) Pratt of Ottawa and his brother Matthew Pratt of Ottawa. His nephews Thomas, Bryan and Jered Clement, several great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation is from 11am to 1pm Saturday, October 3rd, 2026 at Dengel and Son Mortuary in Ottawa,Ks.

Services will follow from 2pm to 6pm at the Ottawa, Ks. VFW Post 5901 (3599 US-59, Ottawa, KS 66067). Followed by a Celebration of Life.
