Melba Joann Jones, born on January 19, 1931, in Coldwater, Kansas, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, at the home of her daughter Connie in Ottawa, Kansas. She was a remarkable woman whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many around her.

Melba lived a life full of passions and creativity. She was a scientific cook who delighted in the art of preparing meals, showcasing her talents for family and friends alike. In addition to her culinary prowess, she enjoyed visiting garage sales, where she often discovered hidden treasures, and had a flair for creating artistic jewelry in silver smithing and lapidary that reflected her creative nature. Painting was another outlet through which Melba expressed herself. Her love for reading continued unabated, making her an avid reader throughout her life. Additionally, Melba also embraced technology with impressive ease, often surprising others with her techno-wizardry.

She developed friendships easily, and her friendly demeanor left a lasting impression on those she met. Melba’s warmth and kindness were felt by everyone fortunate enough to know her.
