Max L. Sharp

Max L. Sharp, of Louisburg, Kansas, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, at Louisburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation at the age of 89. Born on September 1, 1936, in Mariaville, Nebraska, Max lived a full and vibrant life.

Max had a distinguished career with the Federal Aviation Administration, where he dedicated many years of service as an Air Traffic Control Manager until his retirement in 1995. His career took him to various locations across Nebraska, Missouri, and Kansas, reflecting his commitment to his work and his adaptability. In 1998, Max and his wife, Barbara, embraced the adventurous lifestyle of full-time RV living before eventually settling in Gardner in 2008 to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

A proud veteran, Max served in the United States Navy for four years, followed by 20 years in the Air National Guard. His military service underscored his dedication to his country and instilled in him a sense of camaraderie and discipline that carried throughout his life.

Max's early childhood was spent in Nebraska, where he developed a love for the outdoors and active pursuits. He was known for his passions that included walking and cycling. In his younger days, he was an enthusiastic participant in the Boy Scouts, instilling in others the values of leadership and service. Max had a warmth that drew people to him; he never met a stranger and could engage in conversation with anyone. His joy for life extended to the dance floor, where he cherished square dancing and was particularly skilled at polka dancing.

On August 24, 1968, Max married Barbara McEachern in Parsons, Kansas. Together, they built a loving family, which now includes their son, Michael (Chasidy) Sharp, and daughter, Melissa (Ernie) Reinhart. Max took immense pride in the accomplishments of his grandchildren: Marissa Gonzales, Max Blasor, Sierra (Chase) Bretches, Savannah (Brock) Budke, and Miya Sharp, as well as his four great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of endless joy in his life.

Max was preceded in death by his parents, Joy Ralph and Nancy Marie Sharp. His legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.

Max will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, his dedication to family, and the many lives he touched along the way.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Dengel & Son Mortuary - Louisburg Chapel, 1 Aquatic Drive, Louisburg, Kansas 66053. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be held at the Louisburg Cemetery, following the funeral.
