Mary Jo Broadrick, a beloved pillar of her family and community, was born on March 28, 1932, in Dalton, Georgia, and passed away on December 30, 2025, in Louisburg, Kansas, at the age of 93. Throughout her life, Mary Jo embodied kindness and generosity, traits that will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
Mary Jo spent her early years growing up in the Dalton, Georgia area, where she attended school before embarking on a journey that took her to Chattanooga, TN, and later Chicago, Illinois, and Arkansas City, Kansas. In 1998, she made her home in Louisburg, where she continued to build a life filled with love and service. On December 26, 1948, she married Ralph Lamar Broadrick in Chatsworth, Georgia. Together, they shared many adventures and created a loving family.
Professionally, Mary Jo was dedicated and hardworking; she contributed her talents to the Buster Brown Apparel Company and Bell Telephone Company before choosing the rewarding role of a homemaker. Her devotion to her family was matched only by her commitment to her community. Mary Jo was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Louisburg, where she served as a deaconess and was involved in the American Baptist Women's Ministry (ABW).
In her younger years, Mary Jo embraced various hobbies that reflected her vibrant spirit. She enjoyed golfing, sewing, and crafting, and she took great joy in teaching Sunday School. Travel with her beloved husband provided her with cherished memories and enriching experiences. Above all, her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Mary Jo is survived by her loving children, Bruce (Linda) Broadrick, Brenda (Dan) Gussick, Del Jo Broadrick, and Denise (Matt) Staples, sister-in-law, Barbara Rodgers, and a doting grandmother to Brett (Amber) Broadrick, Blake (Patricia) Broadrick, Brian Broadrick, Ben Gussick, Jon (Nicole) Gussick, Jacob Staples, Moriah (Cody) Beasley, and Christian Staples. Her legacy continues through her many great-grandchildren and the numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved her dearly.
Preceding her in death were her devoted husband, Ralph Broadrick; her parents, Crawford and Lottie Capehart; two sisters, Dorothy Cole-Hall and Eva Frances Capehart; and her brother, John Capehart. Their memories will forever be enshrined in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Mary Jo's loving spirit will be deeply missed, yet her impact on her family and community will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the First Baptist Church of Louisburg, 406 S Vine St, Louisburg, Kansas 66053. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at the Louisburg Cemetery, following the funeral.
