Marvin Puvogel

Marvin Puvogel passed away on August 29, 2026, in Wellsville, Kansas, at the Wellsville Retirement Community. He was born on July 13, 1929, in Hiawatha, Kansas.

Marvin served his country in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1954. On August 25, 1954, he married the love of his life, Gwen. Early in their marriage, they lived in Chicago while Marvin was in the service, and they later made their home in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1969, the couple moved to Paola, Kansas, where they built a life together.

For 40 years, Marvin worked for Williams Pipeline as a Mechanical Electrician, from 1954 until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of Pearl Street Baptist Church and Osawatomie Southern Baptist Church.

Retirement brought many happy years for Marvin and Gwen. Together they enjoyed traveling, making frequent trips to Salina to watch their grandchildren, spending time at area lakes, and taking many trips to Colorado. Among their travels, their favorite was a motorhome trip to Alaska. The couple was also active in Mission on Wheels. Marvin enjoyed fishing and hunting, and when his children were younger, he served as their little league baseball coach. He loved playing cards even in his later years, and no one could ever beat him at Kings on the Corner.

Marvin is survived by his sons, Tim (LuAnn) Puvogel of Salina, Kansas, and Steve Puvogel of Paola, Kansas, brother-in-law, Ron Gibson, sister-in-law, Wanda Puvogel, grandchildren Shaun (Jessica) Puvogel, Eric (Amanda) Puvogel, Stacy Puvogel, Andrea (Sam) Peace, Trent Caswell; eight great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Gwen, parents, Louis and Emma Puvogel, brothers, Virgil Puvogel, Lawrence Puvogel, and Walter Puvogel.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Dengel & Son Mortuary - Paola Chapel, 305 N Pearl St, Paola, KS 66071. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Osawatomie Cemetery, following the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made payable to American Legion Post 156, 5 Delaware St, Paola, KS 66071.
