Marianne D. Sieg, born on October 19, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Lyman and Mary (Kosorog) Daugherty, passed away on May 30, 2025, at The University of Kansas Hospital Health System in Kansas City, Kansas. A dedicated and caring individual, she significantly impacted the world through her various professional careers and by her involvement in community life over the years.

Marianne's career was marked most prominently by her thirty-five years in the oil business with Sieg Energy in Ottawa, Kansas, where she served as Vice President and later as President. In addition to her achievements in the business world, she was an experienced educator, sharing her knowledge and passion for learning with students across many schools. She also trained as a Registered Nurse, in the process showcasing her commitment to serving others in multiple capacities.

Her educational journey began at Notre Dame de Sion School from grade school through high school, where she graduated with the class of 1958. She further pursued higher education at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, and earned her Bachelor's degree in language arts from Oklahoma City University. She was fluent in French and Spanish. She also received multiple certifications at the elementary and secondary school levels and taught in locations throughout the country and around the world.

Marianne was active and deeply involved in her religious community, particularly as a member of Sacred Heart Church, where she participated in numerous activities, including the Rummage Sale and Choir. She had a genuine love for family, sang while listening to music, and astutely followed current events. She also loved many pets throughout her life, most recently her beloved Maltese, Cosette.

She had repeatedly visited Ottawa since the 1950s, but began living in Ottawa full-time since 1989, having moved from Denver, Colorado, and following periods of additional residence in diverse places such as Oklahoma, New Jersey, Iran, and Nigeria. United in marriage in 1961 to Karlos Sieg, who preceded her in death on June 17, 2005, she shared a life enriched by love and companionship.

Marianne and Karlos were involved in missionary work under the guidance of her cousin, Brother Lawrence Krish OP while living in Nigeria.

She leaves behind a loving family: her sons, Karl Gregory Sieg, M.D. (Mary) of Orlando, Florida; Kent Sieg, Ph.D. (Hongli) of Overland Park, Kansas; and Keith Sieg (Cherry) of Shanghai, China. Marianne cherished her five grandchildren: Jonathan Sieg, James Sieg, Katerina Thomas, Christel Worcester, and Sandra Sieg. She is also survived by her brother, Patrick Daugherty (Patricia) of Kansas City, Kansas; her sister, Sister Marie Kathleen S.C.L. of Kansas City, Kansas; and her sister, Margaret Daugherty, of Kansas City, Kansas.
