Marcelle B. Pennington, née Bouzaglo, a devoted mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, at the Louisburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Louisburg, Kansas.
Born on September 10, 1942, in Casablanca, Morocco, Marcelle’s early life was marked by a significant journey when she immigrated to the United States at the age of 15, embracing new opportunities and building a life rich in love and dedication.
Throughout her career, Marcelle found her calling in food service, where she worked diligently and with great pride. She served as a restaurant manager for numerous establishments, bringing her passion for cooking and hospitality to many communities. Known especially for her skill in baking, Marcelle was celebrated for her French bread, a testament to her heritage and craftsmanship in the kitchen. Her love of cooking extended beyond her career, as she delighted family and friends with her culinary talents.
Marcelle was much more than her profession. An avid animal lover, she found joy in spending time outdoors under the sun and immersing herself in nature. She was known to watch nature and animal programs for hours, captivated by the wonders of the natural world. Marcelle loved spending time with her best friend, Yvette Clarke. Together they would attend to Yvette’s garden, cook, bake, shop, and host family dinners together. A strong believer in God, her faith was a sustaining force throughout her life.
Born to Albert and Theresa Bouzaglo, who have since passed away, Marcelle was also predeceased by her siblings Marie, Leon, and Georgette. She is survived by her loving children—Dahle Murphy, Jimmy Murphy, Veronica (Grant) Williams, and Danny (Susan) Murphy—who carry forward her legacy of kindness and strength. Her family extends affectionately to her grandchildren: Mykah Murphy, Jackson Murphy, Jacob Murphy, Joshua Murphy, Shanna McCormack, Ryan McCormack, Drake Murphy, and Nathan Murphy. Marcelle also took great joy in her role as a great-grandmother to Wrenna Murphy and Ari Laws. In addition, she is survived by her siblings Jacqueline, Paulette, Danielle, and Remond, who remain an important part of her enduring family ties.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Spring Hill First Baptist Church, 406 W Nichols St, Spring Hill, Kansas 66083. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 am, also at the church.
