Listen to Obituary

Lue Willie (Harvey) Berry, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away peacefully at home on April 26, 2026. Born April 17, 1934, in Grenada, Mississippi, to Ennis and Sallie Harvey, Lue was the oldest of 13 children - a role that reflected the care, strength, and steady love she carried throughout her life.

Warm, caring, and deeply welcoming, Lue made her home a place where family and friends knew the door was open. Planned visits often became cherished gatherings, and even the occasional pop-up cookout felt like family - filled with good food, laughter, and love.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Lue cared faithfully for her household and shared a lifetime partnership with her beloved husband, Lee Robert Berry, who preceded her in death. Her faith as one of Jehovah's Witnesses was central to her life. She found joy in writing letters that shared Bible comfort, and her favorite scripture, Isaiah 41:10, reflected the assurance she treasured - that Jehovah gives strength, help, and courage to those who trust in him.

Lue had many gifts: sewing with patient hands, piecing together puzzles with focus, tending her plants with gentle care, and cooking meals that brought people together. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, and her food, like her presence, made others feel cared for.

She is survived by her sons Larry Berry and LeeRoy Berry; daughters Brenda Berry, Judy Berry-Finch, and Helen Hodnett; along with 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends who will carry her love forward.

Preceding her in death her parents Ennis and S.A. Harvey, husband Lee Robert Berry, brothers Jessie and Ike Harvey, Ennis Harvey Jr; sisters Maggie L. Johnson, Rosie Mae Horton, and her daughter Joe Ann Alexander, and grandson Lee Roy Berry II. She leaves to cherish her memories her brothers Nelson (Addie)Harvey, Sylvester Harvey, Wade Harvey, Manuel Harvey all of Grenada, MS and her sisters Virginia Norton, Annie Pearl Ford of Grenada, MS and Florene (Fred) Reed of Clarksville, TN and extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Cremation is planned, with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.

Lue's legacy will live on in every open door, shared meal, nurtured plant, handwritten word of comfort, and life made brighter by her love.
