Lue Willie (Harvey) Berry, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away peacefully at home on April 26, 2026. Born April 17, 1934, in Grenada, Mississippi, to Ennis and Sallie Harvey, she was the oldest of 13 children.
Lue was warm, steady, and welcoming. Her door was open to family and friends; visits often became relaxed gatherings, and the occasional pop-up cookout brought everyone together.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She shared a long life with her husband, Lee Robert Berry, who preceded her in death, and cared faithfully for her family and home.
As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, Lue's faith shaped her life. She enjoyed writing letters to share Bible comfort, and her favorite scripture, Isaiah 41:10, reminded her of Jehovah's promise of strength, help, and courage.
Lue enjoyed sewing, puzzles, caring for her plants, and cooking meals people remembered. Her food, practical care, and steady presence made her home a place people felt welcome.
Her siblings included five brothers - Ennis (Bertha) Harvey Jr., Nelson (Addie) Harvey, Sylvester Harvey, Wade Harvey, and Manuel Harvey, all of Grenada, MS - and sisters Viriginia Norton and Anne Pearl Ford of Grenada, MS, and Florene "Fred" Reed of Clarksville, KY. She is survived by her sons Larry Berry and LeeRoy Berry; daughters Brenda Berry, Judy Berry-Finch, and Helen Hodnett; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Robert Berry; daughter, Joe Ann Alexander; grandson, LeeRoy Berry II; parents, Ennis and Sallie Harvey; and brother, Ennis (Bertha) Harvey Jr.
Cremation is planned, with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
