Linda L Woods, a beloved lifelong resident of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away peacefully at her residence on May 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 17, 1940, in Manhattan, Kansas, Linda was the daughter of Gilbert Davenport, Sr. and Elnora (Hamilton) Davenport.
Linda graduated from Ottawa High School, class of 1958. Shortly after, she embarked on a fulfilling career that began as a bank teller at Kansas State Bank from the late 1970s to the early 1980s. She later served in the County Clerk's Office in the mid-1980s before taking on the role of office manager for Dr. David Edalati, a position she held until her retirement in 2002.
On February 27, 1960, Linda was united in marriage to Bill E. Woods in Ottawa, Kansas, he survives of the home. Together, they shared 65 years of marriage, farming and raising dairy cattle at their home north of Ottawa.
Her passions included the beauty of raising flowers, gardening, and maintaining her household with great pride. Linda found joy in attending her children's activities and riding horses with her neighbors, symbolizing her vibrant spirit and love for family.
Linda was known for her deep involvement in the community as a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Ottawa and the United Methodist Women Organization. Her contributions and caring nature touched the lives of many around her.
Linda is predeceased by her son, Jeffrey A. Woods, her parents, Gilbert Davenport, Sr. and Elnora Davenport, her brother Gilbert Davenport, Jr., and her sister Paula Seiler.
Linda leaves behind her devoted husband, Bill; daughters, Betsy McCrea (Mark) of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Robynn Woods (Cindy) of Ottawa, Kansas; daughter-in-law Jennifer Woods of Overland Park, Kansas; nine grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she cherished.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. A funeral service will follow on Friday morning May 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM, also at Dengel & Son Mortuary. The burial will take place at Evergreen Mound Cemetery, 3450 Kentucky Road, Ottawa, KS 66067, immediately following the service.
