Linda Sue Hiatt, a cherished member of the Spring Hill community, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, at the KC Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. Born on June 17, 1938, in Bethany, Missouri, Linda was the beloved daughter of Henry Wesley and Edith Hipps Harris.

Linda graduated from Paola High School, where she laid the foundation for a life marked by dedication and heartfelt service. On October 5, 1957, she united in marriage with Howard Hiatt in Cleveland, Oklahoma, a partnership that would become the cornerstone of her life for many years. Together, they made their home in the Spring Hill area, contributing to their community in countless invaluable ways.

For three decades, Linda dedicated herself as a steadfast employee at the ASCS office in Paola before retiring. Her commitment to her work was matched by her devotion to her faith and music. She was an active member of the Spring Hill Methodist Church, where she enriched Sunday services by singing in the choir and playing the organ, touching the lives of many through her musical gifts.

Family and community were at the heart of Linda’s happiness. She treasured time spent with her granddaughters, Courtney Elizabeth Hiatt and Cara Rose Hiatt, participating eagerly in their activities and creating memories that will endure for generations. Her enthusiasm extended beyond her family to joyful experiences such as attending the Kansas Old Timers Pickers and Fiddlers Club, and she was known for her unwavering spirit as a devoted KU fan.

Linda is survived by her loving son, Bruce Hiatt, and his wife Mary of Lee Summit, Missouri. Granddaughters Courtney Elizabeth Hiatt and Cara Rose Hiatt. She also leaves behind two nieces, Debbie Haux (Greg) and Julie Arndorfer (Brad), as well as one nephew, Robert Swan (Jessica), all of whom held her in great affection. Though the loss felt is profound, the legacy of love and kindness she left behind offers solace to those who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Wesley and Edith Hipps Harris; her husband, Howard Hiatt; and her sister, Jane Swan (Dick).

A visitation to honor Linda’s memory will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary - Paola, located at 305 N Pearl St, Paola, Kansas 66071. The visitation is scheduled for June 5, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Following this, a memorial service will take place at the same location on June 6, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM and concluding at 11:30 AM.

Linda Sue Hiatt’s life was a testament to the values of dedication, faith, and family. Her presence enriched the lives of all who knew her, and her loss leaves a quiet void within the hearts of her loved ones. She will be remembered with respect, gratitude, and everlasting affection.
