Listen to Obituary

Judith “Judy” Arlene Brunner, age 86, passed away on October 15, 2026, at Rock Creek of Ottawa Skilled Nursing in Ottawa, Kansas. Born on October 31, 1939, in Denver, Colorado, to Alice Margaret Kinnie (Pfenning), Judy spent her early years in Colorado before moving to Anchorage, Alaska, in the early 1960s. She later lived in Texas before settling in Ottawa, Kansas.

Judy's professional journey included roles as a travel agent and a position at Ottawa Truck until her retirement in 2010. Her compassionate spirit was evident in her volunteer work at Ransom Memorial Hospital, the Franklin County Cancer Foundation, and the nursery at Westminster Presbyterian Church.

A lover of gardening, puzzles, playing Bunco, and enthusiastically supporting the Denver Broncos and K.U. Jayhawks, Judy also cherished her role as a devoted cat mom.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Alice; her sisters, Alice “Betty” McIntosh and Dorothy “Dode” Uchida; and her brother, Stephan Dilano Kinnie Jr. She is survived by her sons, David John Brunner, Kirk (Gerri) Brunner, and Erik Brunner; and her brother, Richard Lee (Marilyn) Kinnie.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Ottawa, Kansas, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM. A graveside service will take place afterward at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa, Kansas.

Judy was not only a dedicated and special mother but also a wonderful person who touched the lives of everyone she met. She will be dearly missed. Memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin County Cancer Foundation.
