John Robert Clark, a devoted family man, proud American, and respected community member, passed away on May 16, 2026, at the Kansas City Hospice House, at the age of 80. Born on February 27, 1946, in Crookston, Minnesota, John’s journey was marked by service, leadership, and a deep commitment to his faith and family.
In 1947, John moved with his family to Paola, Kansas, where he spent his formative years. As a child, he was actively involved in the Boy Scouts and later proudly served as a Scout leader at the Lake Mary Center. He graduated from Paola High School and went on to attend Kansas State University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in history.
Following his graduation, John answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army. He served honorably for 15 months in Vietnam, demonstrating courage and commitment. After his active duty, he continued his military service in the Army Reserve before transferring to the Navy Reserve, where he remained until his retirement in 1993.
He married Jeanette Williams on June 16, 1984, where he was blessed with 2 grown daughters, Vicki and Debbie. They were happily married for almost 42 years.
John's professional career was deeply intertwined with his family legacy. He worked for the Miami County Title Company and took over the business after his father’s retirement. Demonstrating entrepreneurial spirit, he expanded the company by opening offices in Louisburg and Olathe, Kansas.
His love for God and church life was evident throughout his life. He was a committed member of the Louisburg First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, reflecting his dedication to his faith and his congregation. Alongside his faith, John was a member of the Paola American Legion Post 156.
Outside of his professional and spiritual commitments, John embraced the joys of life through hobbies like fishing, golfing, and canoeing. His enthusiasm for winter sports led him to favorite destinations such as Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Bemidji, Minnesota. Travel with his beloved wife during retirement brought him much happiness and cherished memories.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Clark, daughters, Vicki (Dean) Matacchiera and Debbie Boring, who, along with their own children—Paige (Daniel) Gorey, Jacob Boring, Samantha Boring, and Zoe Matacchiera—carry forward his legacy of devotion and kindness. John's family circle also includes his sister Betsy (Scott) Murray and foster sisters Donna (Tom) Howard and Retta (Lon) Huston, who remained dear to him throughout his life.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Blanche Clark, whose memory he honored through his lifetime of accomplishments and values.
John's life stands as a testament to dedication—to faith, family, country, and community. He lived as a Godly man with conviction and care, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him. His memory will forever be a blessing to those who loved him.
