Joanne “Jo” Robinson, 74, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on May 3, 2025.
She is survived by her husband Mike Robinson; son Nicholas Robinson; son Patrick and wife Jill Robinson; son Seth Mettling and partner Jacob Maraya; loving and supportive siblings: sisters Jini Ray and Pam Cline, and brother Phil Lane.
Her life was a commitment to teaching, youth and the love of her soulmate Mike Robinson. Jo’s love for children and teaching led her to Ottawa University where she obtained her bachelor and master degrees in education.
It was also in Ottawa, working at a car dealership where she met the love of her life Mike Robinson. Over the course of their 50-year marriage they raised three boys and watched as they grew into successful men in their own right.
A dedicated teacher, she retired from Sacred Heart School after 30 years of commitment to the education of students in the Catholic community. Jo’s life is a testament to the profound impact that a dedicated teacher can have on generations of students.
Those who knew Jo were witness to her vibrant and tenacious spirit, her love for reading, the natural and fairytale world, and openness to new experiences. Finally, her love for rabbits was only matched by her love for her family.
Although her physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us.
A Celebration of Jo’s Life will be Saturday, May 17, 2025, 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Ottawa, Kansas. Street Level Entrance is on 4th Street, with elevator access to the large dining room in their basement.
Her family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Guadalupe Centers, 1015 Avenida Cesar E Chaves, Kansas City, Mo 64108 (Guadalupe Centers.Org) or the charity of your choice.
