Joann (Martin) Dusenberry, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, in Paola, Kansas. Born on August 7, 1957, in Kansas City, Kansas, Joann lived a life marked by dedication to her family, community, and work.
For nearly three decades, Joann served with unwavering commitment as a custodian at the Shawnee Mission School District, followed by her role at the Blue Valley School District before she retired. Her diligent work ethic and friendly presence left a lasting impact on students and colleagues alike.
Joann’s passions extended beyond her professional life. She cherished trips to Silver Dollar City, proudly holding season passes that allowed her to enjoy the park’s many wonders year after year. A devoted fan of country music, she often attended performances in Branson, finding joy in the vibrant melodies and spirited atmosphere. In her leisure time, Joann delighted in gardening, exploring garage sales, and spending time with her beloved dogs. Above all, her heart was devoted to her family; she loved her grandchildren dearly and treasured every moment spent watching and caring for them.
She was an active member of Faith Chapel Assembly of God Church in Louisburg, where her faith remained a cornerstone throughout her life.
Joann is survived by her son, Louis R. Dusenberry, and his wife, Melissa; her grandchildren, Jacob and Nicholas Dusenberry; and her sisters, Kathy Fanning and Wilma Martin. They will carry forward her loving memory and the legacy of kindness she imparted.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis W. Dusenberry; her parents, Grover and Gracie Martin; and her brother, Martin Marvin.
Joann's life was a testament to love, hard work, and devotion. She will be remembered with deep respect and affection by all who knew her.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
