Jo Ann Davidson

Jo Ann Davidson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, in Louisburg, Kansas, at the age of 74. Born on May 8, 1952, in Carrollton, Missouri, Jo Ann’s life was defined by deep roots in her community, steady devotion to her family, practical wisdom, and a gentle heart.

She spent her early years in Carrollton, where she attended Carrollton schools and graduated from Carrollton High School. Jo Ann’s commitment to learning led her to Park University, where she completed her college education, setting a foundation for a life rich in both knowledge and experience.

Jo Ann’s career was marked by dedication and professionalism. She initially served as the executive secretary for Coast to Coast, bringing an organized and reliable presence to her work. She continued her vocational journey at Wilcox Electrical, and, after many years of valued service, she ultimately retired from Ottawa Truck. Her colleagues remember her for her diligent work ethic and her straightforward, practical approach to problem-solving.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Jo Ann was a woman of many talents and passions. She was especially known for her creativity and generosity, giving lovingly crafted Christmas presents and warm afghans to family and friends. As a master gardener, her love for nurturing life extended beyond her family to the beauty she cultivated in her surroundings. She found peace and joy in reading, often spending quiet moments with a good book while swaying in on the porch swing. Her love for the outdoors was matched only by her sense of adventure, especially cherished during trips to the beach.

At the heart of Jo Ann’s story was her profound relationship with Harley Davidson. Their love began in an unlikely yet touching way—as pen pals while Harley served in the Vietnam War. Through months of heartfelt correspondence, a deep bond developed, and upon Harley’s return, they wed on September 9, 1972, at the Methodist Church in Carrollton, Missouri. Their marriage blossomed over decades and saw them building homes together in Gladstone and Liberty before settling in Paola in 2003, where they built countless memories side by side.

Family was Jo Ann’s greatest pride and comfort. She is lovingly survived by her husband, Harley Davidson; daughters, Dawn (Shon) Summers and Jennifer (Frankie) Davidson-Cummins; grandson, Colin Summers; her mother, Bonnie Smith; and her sister, Janet Smith. She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Smith. Jo Ann’s life was further enriched by the many roles she inhabited—as a supportive daughter, a caring sister, a nurturing mother, and a doting grandmother.

Her practical nature was matched by her kindness—Jo Ann always had a soft spot in her heart for animals, and her compassion extended to all those around her. Her family and friends, as well as those who had the good fortune to know her, will remember her as someone whose quiet strength and generosity left a lasting impression.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Dengel & Son Mortuary - Paola Chapel, 305 N Pearl Street, Paola, Kansas 66071.
