Janice A. Green, a cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. Born on April 15, 1951, in Ottawa, Kansas, Janice’s life journey was marked by unwavering strength, deep love for her family, and a commitment to her community.

Throughout her 75 years, Janice exemplified resilience and optimism. She was known for being a fighter, courageously battling and surviving cancer—a testament to her indomitable spirit that inspired all who knew her. Her life was a tapestry woven with kindness, generosity, and enthusiasm for the people and interests she held dear.

Family was at the very heart of Janice’s world. She deeply loved her grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. Her daughters, Tonya and Michelle, were her pride and joy. Janice’s steadfast support, encouragement, and warmth shaped their lives in immeasurable ways.

Left to honor her memory are her beloved daughters Tonya Sheldon (Ryan) and Michelle Green (Richard); four step-daughters; one step-son; grandchildren Nicole Thompson (Ethan), Alexis Spangler (Austin), Nathan Sheldon (Hannah), Ryan, Zoe (Isaac), Josh Wadewitz (Katie), Noah Wadewitz (Oliva), Mercedes, Darion, Dakota, Dravan, and Abi; twenty-one great grandchildren; and sisters, Linda Becker, Sandy Brittingham, and Gail Hoehlman, who will forever remember Janice’s affection and devotion.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents John and Willa (Doty) Green; husband Richard "Shorty" Spring; and grandson Brandon along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Outside of her family, Janice’s passions were wide-ranging. She was a devoted fan of Kansas City Chiefs football and reveled in the excitement of Nascar. Holidays brought her immense joy, and she approached each one with a sense of celebration and delight, ensuring gatherings were meaningful and memorable. Friends and neighbors remember her fondness for Arby’s—just one of the small joys she never hesitated to indulge in.

Generous-hearted and community-minded, Janice was dedicated to charity work and supporting good causes. Whether through volunteering or donating, she strove to make the world around her a better place, leaving a legacy of kindness and empathy.

Janice’s life will be honored at a visitation on August 21, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S Hickory St, Ottawa, Kansas. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m., at the same location.

Janice will be dearly missed, but the warmth and energy she brought to the lives of many. Her family and all who loved her find comfort in the memories they shared and the lasting imprint she leaves on their hearts.
