Janet E. Putzier died on May 21, 2026, at the age of 87 with family beside her. Born on October 11, 1938, in Denver, Colorado, to Frank and Sue Wolf, Janet was second born of eight children. She lived most of her childhood in rural Kansas where she learned her strong, hardworking character.
Jan was a graduate of the Dominican School of Nursing in Great Bend, Kansas, where she earned her credentials as a Registered Nurse. Her career spanned over 40 years, during which she dedicated herself to advocating for her patients in various departments, including Labor and Delivery, the Burn Unit, Day Surgery, and Home Health Care. Her colleagues and patients alike knew her as a compassionate and competent nurse whose dedication went beyond the call of duty.
On October 8, 1959, Janet married Valdean Putzier and together had four children. Mike (Jill) Putzier, Toni (Mark) Bradley, Debbie (Brian) Moody, and Suzan (Mike) Beran. Jan’s legacy lives on through her 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Jan's life was one of service and devotion, not only to her family and her career but also to her community. She volunteered her time generously, contributing to her faith community, pro-life causes, and community gardens. A Master Gardener, Janet's flower gardens were a testament to her love of nature and her meticulous care for beauty and growth. Her passion for sewing and crafts added further creativity and warmth to her home and community.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Valdean, and her siblings Bobby, Liana, Larry, and Kathy. She is survived by her children and siblings Sr. Joan Wolf, Don (Patty) Wolf, and Connie Ryan.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, located at 509 E. Chippewa St., Paola, KS 66071. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to My Father's House, an organization close to Jan's heart.
Jan's life was a reflection of her nurturing spirit, unwavering faith, and strength of character. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew her. May she rest in peace, forever in our hearts.
