Jacob was born on September 18, 1938, in Lawrence, Kansas, to Jesse and Opal (Lee) Markley. He graduated from Appanoose High School in 1957 and soon after proudly served his country in the United States Navy, where he was stationed in Cuba. Following his military service, Jacob worked for Lawrence Paper Company before starting his own guttering business, which he operated for many years with dedication and pride.
In June 1962, Jacob married Gloria, and together they shared many years before parting ways in 1983. In January 1985, he married Lois, with whom he shared a loving marriage until her passing.
Jacob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois; his brothers George, David, Richard and Leo; his sisters Doris and Evelyn; and his son Jeff.
He is survived by his sister Wilda Robbins; children Lorena (Jason) Alterman, Chad (Ginger) Markley, Linda (Randy) Firestone, Teri (Justin) Webb, Craig (Tammy) Ogle, and Penny (Frank) Brewer; along with 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren who will carry his memory forward.
