Helen Jo Johnson

Helen Jo Johnson, 73, of Ottawa, passed away on January 11, 2026 at Olathe Hospice House.

She was born on February 26, 1952 to Lloyd and Esther (Ashburn) Willey in Garnett, KS. She was one of six children.

Helen worked as a truck loader for the Walmart Distribution Center until she retired after 10 years of dedication. Before working for Walmart, she worked at the JCPenny warehouse in Lenexa, KS for 10 years.

On October 8, 1970 she married the love of her life, Harlan Larry Johnson. To this union, she was blessed with four children, Kristy, Shawn, Kammie, Kasey. Helen was a dedicated stay at home mom while Harlan worked over the road, providing for their family.

Helen loved spending her time going to thrift stores, garage sales, and visiting cemeteries. She spent time driving around with her friends and daughter, Kasey and hanging out with her close friend, Deb. Helen loved to jam to the radio in the car.

Helen is survived by her loving, Brother, David Willey, Sister-In-Law, Penny Sommer, Brother-In-Law, Randy Johnson, as well as her children, Kristy, Kammie, and Kasey. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Father, Lloyd Willey, Mother, Esther Willey, Husband, Larry Johnson, Son, Shawn Johnson, Siblings, Lloyd, Sally, Billy, and Johnny, Grandson, Khamis, Father-In-Law, Harlan Johnson and Mother-In-Law, Myrna Johnson.

To honor Helen's wishes, she will be riding in her son, Shawn's, truck "Big Sexi" to her final resting place, driven by her nephew, Brian Sommer.
