RESIDENCE HISTORY: He grew up in Quenemo, moving to Pomona in 1936. EDUCATION: Ernest attended schools in Quenemo. OCCUPATION & BUSINESS: He was a coal miner thirteen years. He also owned and operated Pomona Cafe; owned dump trucks and worked for Kaw Paving, Topeka, and Perry Jones Quarry; worked for Martin Marietta as a heavy equipment operator; worked for Franklin County Public Service road maintenance; drove a school bus for West Franklin District 287; and operated a road maintainer for City of Pomona. MARRIAGE: On January 8, 1936, Ernest was united in marriage with Rachel Faye Mundy at Ottawa, Kansas. She survives of their home. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2004. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Glen Yancey. IN STATE: Mr. Servaes will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 p.m. Thursday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Thursday evening. CEMETERY: Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to Pomona United Methodist Church, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
