Dorothy Louise Brandt

Dorothy Louise Brandt, 96, of Paola, Kansas, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on September 24, 2026. She was born on July 25, 1930, in Miami County, Kansas, to George and Ruth Holtz. She was united in matrimony on December 19, 1948, to John W. (Junior) Brandt.

Dorothy spent more than 70 years living on the family farm, where she built a life centered on faith, family, and simple joys. She found great happiness tending her flower gardens and working on the family farm. Many cherished memories were made around her kitchen table, where she could often be found playing solitaire or teaching her grandchildren how to play Kings on the Corner.

God was always first in Dorothy's life. A lifelong Lutheran, she faithfully nurtured her relationship with Christ and rarely missed listening to The Lutheran Hour on the radio each week. She was confirmed in 1944 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Block, Kansas. Her confirmation verse remained a guiding principle throughout her life:

"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen." 2 Peter 3:18

Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, John W. Brandt; her parents, George and Ruth Holtz; and her siblings, Harold, Herbert, Norman, Arlene, and Alice.

She is survived by her sons, Dale (Cheryle) Brandt of Paola and Larry (Kelly) Brandt of Paola; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Her legacy of faith, love, hard work, and devotion to family will continue to live on through those who were blessed to know her.

While her family mourns her passing, they rejoice in the promise of eternal life and take comfort in knowing she is now at peace with her Lord.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Paola Cemetery.
