Listen to Obituary

Dora Ann Lingo, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, at The University of Kansas Health System Olathe Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas. She was born on August 21, 1950, in Ottawa, Kansas.  Dora lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and an enduring love for family and community.

Dora’s life was deeply rooted in the values instilled by her parents, Harold Leon and Eudora Faustina (Butolph) Bulson. She married Garry James Lingo on February 22, 1969, in Leavenworth, Kansas, forging a partnership filled with love and commitment until his passing in July 2016. Together, they built a family and a life grounded in faith, warmth, and generosity.

Her professional journey was a testament to her strong work ethic and steadfast spirit. Dora devoted twelve years to Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., followed by fifteen years at Parmalee, and an impressive twenty-eight years of service at Walmart. Through these roles, she displayed dedication and reliability, qualities that earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and community alike.

Dora’s heart was always with her family. She was a loving mother to her daughters, Sherry Sullivan (Les) and Terri Brilke (Mark), who carry forward her legacy of compassion and strength. Her grandchildren Shawn Sullivan (Carter), Kelsey Sullivan (Kenneth), Kodiak Brannan (Brittney), and Kaden Brilke; along with seven great-grandchildren Tristan, Emery, Natalie, Noah, Rory, Bowen, and Lainey, were a continual source of joy and pride for her. Dora particularly loved having sleepovers with her grandchildren, embracing the role of “mom” to everyone around her with open arms and an open heart. Her sister, Judy Porter, remains a living connection to Dora’s enduring spirit and family devotion.

Her passions extended beyond family—and the garden she lovingly tended stands as a symbol of her nurturing nature. Dora enjoyed gardening, checking cattle, and dining out, simple pleasures that enriched her days. Her love for live music, especially the performances of Duke Mason in Ottawa, reflected her vibrant connection to the community and her welcoming spirit that accepted all strangers as friends.

As a proud member of the Four Square Church in Ottawa, Dora’s faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those who knew her.

Family, friends, and community members are invited to honor Dora’s memory through the following services. Visitation will be held on April 15, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dengel & Son Mortuary, located at 235 S Hickory St, Ottawa, Kansas. The funeral service will follow on April 16, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM at the mortuary. Interment will take place at Evergreen Mound Cemetery, 3450 Kentucky Road, Ottawa, Kansas, following the services.

Dora’s legacy is one of unwavering love, community spirit, and steadfast faith. Her presence enriched the lives of all who knew her, and she will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
