Dennis A. Jones, a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on February 2, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on April 15, 1940, in El Dorado, Kansas, Dennis was the beloved son of Harry and Vanita (Wright) Jones.
A life rooted in agriculture, Dennis devoted his career to farming and also took pride in his mechanic work, showcasing his strong work ethic and versatility. He was a self-taught mechanic with a special ability to invent new equipment showcasing his talent for enhancing mechanical equipment making the design better than the original in many cases. He found great joy in life, not only through his labor but also through his hobbies and interests. Dennis was an avid motorcycle rider and a self-taught computer user, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to learning and growth. He held a deep appreciation for his family, and he nurtured his passion for knowledge as a devoted Bible scholar.
Dennis was particularly proud of authoring a book titled "God's Way of Doing Things," a reflection of his spiritual journey and exploration of faith. He shared his wisdom generously with his loved ones, including his cherished wife, Verna (Miller) Jones, who stood by his side throughout their years together.
Together, they raised a family that brought Dennis much joy, including his daughter Caroline Jones and his sons Terry Jones, Steve Jones, Stan Jones, and Ben Jones. He also found delight in the lives of his three grandchildren, Jennifer, Sarah, and Katarina, who were a source of pride and happiness for him.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents.
His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will remember him as a man of strength, compassion, and wisdom. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit and the values he instilled in his loved ones will endure.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00pm, Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Bible Baptist Church located at 325 N Cherry Street, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
