Deloras Marie Sanders

Deloras “Dee” Marie Sanders, a beloved figure known for her spirited personality and deep love for her family, passed away on February 14, 2026, at Sunflower Care Homes of Baldwin in Baldwin City, Kansas. Born on December 16, 1938, in Melvern, Kansas, she was the daughter of Albert and Marie (Maiden) Boyer.

Dee spent sixty-two wonderful years married to her husband, Shorty Sanders. Together, they built a life full of love and memories that continue to resonate within their family. Dee was a loving mother to her daughter, Sherry Wiscombe and her son, Jay Sanders. Dee “Gran” was also a proud grandmother/great grandmother, relishing her time spent with her grandchildren, attending their countless sporting events.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

A vibrant personality, Dee loved Elvis, enjoyed dancing, and was known to be a "spit-fire", never hesitating to express her thoughts candidly. Her passion for life extended to her immense pride in her appearance, her enthusiastic support for the Kansas Jayhawks, embracing all her students, and keeping meticulous records of each sporting event book for the athletes, embodying the essence of a dedicated fan.

Memorial service will take place on February 22, 2026, starting at 2:30 PM, followed by a visitation at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa, Kansas. The family's grief is tempered by the legacy she leaves behind, including her unique charisma and the countless lives she touched.

She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her, especially by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all her caregivers at Sunflower Care Homes. who will carry all their fond memories forever.

Dee is survived by children Sherry Wiscombe, (Jay), and Jay Sanders (Robin Martin); grandchildren: Stephanie Hoffsommer (Christian), Brandee Webb (Justin), Jayson Wiscombe (Amy), Kyle Sanders (Sammy Simmons), Moncia Beal (Mitchell), Mayria Becker (Josh); great grandchildren Andrew & Lance Hoffsommer, Jayden & Jo Wiscombe, Hunter (Mallory Salmon), Gunnar, Easton, Oakleigh, & Knox Webb, Aubree & Austin Stilley & Scarlett Sanders, Bodie & Calvin Beal, and Emmitt & Patton Becker; and great- great grandchild Kolson Salmon.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Sunflower Care Homes of Baldwin City c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
