Dale N. Dieterich, Jr., a cherished resident of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 19, 1948, in Lawrence, Kansas, he was the son of Dale

Dieterich, Sr. and Katherine (Heck) Dieterich, who have predeceased him.

A proud graduate of Ottawa High School, Dale completed his education at the Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, Kansas, where he earned a bachelor's degree in psychology in 1971. His professional journey began in the 1970s when he worked for H.D. Lee in Overland Park, Kansas, before becoming co-owner of Sheldon's International Tractor Company. Dale transitioned into the banking industry in the late 1980s, serving as an Ag lender and later becoming the bank president until his retirement in 2010.

Dale's commitment to his community was reflected in his active participation in several local organizations. He was a faithful member of the Ottawa First United Methodist Church, engaged in various civic groups, and served on the USD 290 school board, showcasing his dedication to education and community development. Additionally, he was a proud member of the A.K.L. Fraternity in Emporia and served as the Chamber of Commerce president as well as the Franklin County Development Council president. Dale also served as treasurer for many other organizations such as the Franklin County Fair board.

In the realms of leisure and family, Dale embraced a variety of interests and hobbies, never meeting a stranger. He was passionate about golf, farming, and watching sports, while also enjoying working in the yard. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his family and grandchildren, creating lasting memories that they will hold dear.

On August 1, 1970, Dale united in marriage to Sheri Schultz, who survives him and carries forward their shared legacy. He is also survived by his son, Jeff Dieterich (Brooke) of Richmond Hill, Georgia; daughters, Jennifer Dieterich of Chicago, Illinois, and Lindsey Dieterich (Marques Askins) of Ottawa, Kansas; and five beloved grandchildren, Zach Harvey, Carter Dieterich, Trent Dieterich, Leah Askins-Dieterich, and Evan Askins-Dieterich. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Dieterich (Ricki) of Fort Worth, Texas.

Dale's life will be celebrated at a graveside service on June 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa, Kansas. His contributions to the community, his love for family, and his gentle spirit will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
