Claude E. (Bud) Smith Jr., 75 of Louisburg, Kansas, died Thursday, June 4, 2009. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2009 at Penwell " Gabel Louisburg Chapel. Burial to follow in Aubry Cemetery, Stilwell, Kansas Visitation will be 3:00 " 5:00 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2009 at the chapel. Bud was born July 27th, 1933 in Pomona KS to Claude Smith and Vivien Shoffner-Smith. He graduated from Williamsburg High in 1951, he then served in the Army in Panama. In 1957 he returned to Ottawa and married Janice Pearson. As a Millwright at Colgate-Palmolive he raised his family in Stilwell; where he retired in 1990. Bud was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, coaching/umpiring baseball and building anything by hand. He was a loyal man that would help anyone in need, never meeting a stranger. He did everything with a sense of humor and hard work. Survived by wife Janice; sons, Greg (Laura), Kevin (Brenda); sisters, Joan Kirk and Sharon Fisher; brother, Richard Smith; grandchildren, Heather (Chad), Danielle, and Taylor. Proceeded in death by son Jeffrey. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are welcome to the Alzheimer"s Association.
