Charlotte L. Carner, age 87, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2026. Born on September 2, 1939, she spent many years in Norman, Indiana, before moving to Ottawa, Kansas, where she had been a cherished member of the community for the past 12 years.
Charlotte will be remembered as a very friendly woman who never met a stranger and loved to chat with anyone. She brought that same warmth to every part of her life, making others feel welcome with her easy conversation and open heart. She worked as a factory worker in the automobile industry, and beyond her work, she found joy in the simple and lasting pleasures that made a house feel like home. She loved flowers and gardening, and she enjoyed baking and cooking for those around her. She also absolutely loved word search, a pastime that brought her both enjoyment and quiet satisfaction.
Her family was the center of her life. She loved her family deeply, and she especially cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were among her proudest joys.
Charlotte is survived by her son, Jeff (Terri) Carner, sister Chris, brother Ernie and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. May the memory of her kindness, her conversation, and the love she gave so freely remain a lasting comfort to those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; her sons, Tony and David; her step-children, Mike, Jim, and Robin; her father and mother, John and Lula Estes; her sisters, Joyce, Thelma, and Beverly; and her brother, Ed.
Charlotte’s life was marked by warmth, devotion, and a genuine love for people. She leaves behind memories of blooming gardens, good food, friendly words, and a deep love of family that will not be forgotten.
