Charles Strawn Haynes, best known as Chuck, 83, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 26, 2026 in Louisburg, KS.
Born on May 29, 1942 in Corpus Christi, TX, he was the son of Robert Charles Haynes and Roxie Bernice Lane. He served in the US Navy from 1960 to 1964 and was on the Attack Transport USS George Clymer (APA-27) in Vietnam and the Western Pacific.
Chuck raised his family in CA and OR after his time in the Navy, eventually settling in Huntsville, AL. He was an excellent machinist, a talent he used to customize his beloved 1985 Harley Davidson, among other things. Known for his sharp wit, Chuck touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
He is survived by his brother Don, sisters Robbie Lee Coleman and Cindy Moore, sons Chris and Travis Haynes, daughter, Lisa Peltier, 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
No Memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Chuck’s memory to Forgotten Felines HSV to help homeless cats in Huntsville, AL - a cause that was dear to his heart.
