Cathy Marie Kooser, née Prusa, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026, at Menorah Medical Center, Overland Park, Kansas. Born on December 22, 1947, in Hoisington, Kansas, Cathy lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.
A graduate of Claflin Rural High School’s class of 1965, Cathy briefly attended Fort Hays University following graduation. She dedicated more than two decades of her career to the customer service department at the Louisburg Price Chopper, where she was known for her thoughtful and selfless nature, always putting others before herself. Her retirement was well deserved after many years of loyal service.
Cathy’s passions extended beyond her professional life. She found joy in baking, gardening, and exploring new recipes. She cherished the moments when her entire family gathered to share a meal, weaving memories that would last a lifetime. Her creativity shone in her crocheting, as she lovingly crafted quilts and pillows that brought warmth and comfort to those she cared for. A longtime member of the First Christian Church of Louisburg, Cathy’s faith was a cornerstone of her life and a source of strength and community.
On June 19, 1999, Cathy married Ron Kooser, and together they made their home in Cleveland, Missouri. Her family was the heart of her world. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Ronne Kooser; her daughter Jackie (Brian) Smith; her sons Chris Feist and Jonathan Feist; her brothers Anthony and Kenny Prusa; and her brothers-in-law Bob (Karen) and Mike Kooser. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonse and Lorena (Mater) Prusa, and her brother Steve Prusa.
Cathy’s life was a testament to compassion, dedication, and love. She touched the hearts of many and leaves behind a lasting legacy of selflessness and grace. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 pm, on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the First Christian Church of Louisburg, 602 N 1st Street, Louisburg, Kansas 66053. Memorial service will take place at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow the service at the Glenwild Cemetery, Cleveland, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made payable to the First Christian Church of Louisburg or donate to your favorite animal rescue, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, P.O. Box 669, Louisburg, Kansas 66053.
